No one wants to believe a stroke could happen to them but the truth is it can happen to anyone. To minimize the effects of stroke, the best defense is education.
Educate yourself on the warning signs before they happen, know what to do if you recognize the signs and know that you must act fast.

Get treatment within 3 hours to have the best chance of surviving a stroke without being severely disabled. When you recognize the warning signs of stroke, call 911 immediately. Ambulance personnel can begin the treatment process while you are on the way to the hospital and once you arrive, you will receive treatment quicker than if you had someone drive you to the hospital.

If you have already had a strike, then you know you are at a higher risk of having another stroke. If a member of your family has had a stroke, you are also at a higher risk of having one.
